The barrel is a tradition for a reason. For generations, Nigerian families in the UK have sent love home in a barrel — food, clothes, toiletries, school supplies, a little of everything, packed tight and shipped by sea. It is still the single most cost-effective way to send a large, mixed shipment to Nigeria, and Precebol Logistics ships barrels from any UK city to all 36 states every week.

Pricing. Shipping a standard 45–55 gallon barrel by sea is £120 if you supply your own barrel, or £170 all-in if we supply it (£120 shipping + £50 for the barrel). An Amazon bag is £80, a Ghana Must Go bag is £70, and a size-38 box (your own box) is £100; we sell Amazon boxes at £15 each if you need one. Collection is free within 20 miles of our Camberwell office; beyond that a collection fee applies, or drop off at the office and pay none. Delivery to states outside Lagos is quoted separately. Everything is quoted upfront in pounds — collection, freight, Nigerian customs clearance, and delivery — with no surprise fees asked of your family at the other end. Need it faster? What you can put in a barrel. A barrel is ideal for a mix of non-perishable, everyday items: clothing and shoes, dried and tinned food, provisions, seasonings and spices, toiletries and soap, baby and children’s items, bedding and towels, school supplies, and small household goods. What to keep out. Fresh or frozen food, anything perishable, and prohibited items must stay out — and large commercial quantities of any single product can change how customs treat the whole barrel. If you are sending goods for resale rather than for family use, that is a commercial shipment with different paperwork (see Form M and NAFDAC). When in doubt, send us your list and we will check it before you seal up.

How to pack a barrel so it clears first time. Packing matters. Heavy items go at the bottom, liquids sealed and bagged, clothing used to cushion fragile goods, and the lid properly secured. A well-packed barrel travels safely and clears Nigerian customs without fuss — a badly packed one risks damage and delays. We give every customer practical packing guidance before collection, and our Lagos team handles the clearance and delivery at the other end so nothing falls through the gap.

Door-to-door, to every state. We collect your barrel from anywhere in the UK — or you can drop it at our Camberwell, London office — and deliver it to your recipient’s door anywhere in Nigeria, including the often-neglected states. Sea cargo barrels take 5–6 weeks door-to-door. Our Nigeria office keeps your recipient informed and coordinates the final delivery, so you always know your barrel is on its way home.
