How to Ship Goods from Birmingham to Nigeria

Birmingham has one of the UK's most vibrant Nigerian communities, and Precebol runs twice-weekly collections across the city. No trips to London, no premium for being outside the capital — just straightforward Nigeria cargo from your door.

Birmingham is home to one of the largest and most established Nigerian communities in the UK. From Handsworth and Lozells to Aston, Erdington, and beyond, there are tens of thousands of UK Nigerians in the city who send goods home regularly.

Precebol runs twice-weekly collections across Greater Birmingham. Whether you’re in the city centre, the inner suburbs, or the surrounding towns of Wolverhampton, Walsall, or Coventry, we can reach you — and you pay the same freight rates as any London customer.

Birmingham’s Nigerian Community

Birmingham’s Nigerian population is significant and spread across the city:

  • Handsworth — one of Birmingham’s most established African communities, with Nigerian restaurants, businesses, and community organisations
  • Lozells — a historically diverse area with a strong West African presence
  • Aston — connected to Lozells and home to many Nigerian families
  • Erdington — a growing Nigerian community in north Birmingham
  • Smethwick and West Bromwich — active Nigerian communities in the Black Country
  • Wolverhampton and Walsall — significant Nigerian populations just outside Birmingham

If you’re in any of these areas, or elsewhere in the West Midlands, we collect from you directly.

How Birmingham Collections Work

Book Your Slot

Contact us by phone on (+44) 7946 272819 or via our website to book. Tell us what you’re sending, the Nigerian delivery address, and your preference for sea or air freight. We’ll confirm one of our two weekly Birmingham collection days that works for you.

Door Collection in Birmingham

Our driver collects from your Birmingham address. No need to travel to London, no need to drop off at a depot. We come to you, load your goods, and give you a receipt with your shipment reference.

London Hub and Onwards

Your goods travel from Birmingham to our London hub in Camberwell. From there, the process is the same as for any UK customer — export documentation, sea or air freight, Lagos customs clearance, and door delivery in Nigeria. The fact that your goods originated in Birmingham makes no difference to the quality or speed of the service once they’re in our system.

No Premium for Being Outside London

Some smaller freight companies treat Birmingham as an “outskirts” location and charge a collection premium. We don’t. Our freight rates — per kg for air, per CBM for sea — are the same regardless of where in England or Wales you are. The only difference is the collection day schedule.

We don’t think your postcode should affect how much you pay to look after your family in Nigeria.

What Birmingham Customers Typically Ship

Our Birmingham customers send a wide range of goods:

Clothing and fashion — Next, Primark, George at Asda, sportswear, and designer items. Birmingham’s Bullring and Selfridges make it easy to shop and ship in the same week.

Electronics — smartphones, laptops, tablets, headphones, and accessories. Curry’s, Argos, and online retailers are common sources.

Food and grocery items — packaged food, condiments, cereals, and dried goods. Many Birmingham Nigerian families send regular food barrels to parents and relatives.

Baby and children’s goods — clothing, shoes, toys, formula milk (subject to restrictions), and school supplies.

Household items — small appliances, kitchenware, bedding, and occasionally larger furniture pieces by sea.

Choosing Between Air and Sea from Birmingham

The decision is the same as for any UK sender:

Air FreightSea Cargo
Best forSmall, urgent, high-value itemsBulk, heavy, household goods
Transit time4–8 days door to door4–6 weeks door to door
CostHigher per kgLower per kg/CBM
Weight sweet spotUnder 30–40kgOver 30–40kg

For most Birmingham families sending a regular parcel of clothes and food, sea cargo is the economical choice. For a laptop or phone that’s urgently needed, air is better.

  3. Pack your goods and prepare a packing list (we’ll guide you)
  4. We collect from your door on the agreed day
